What Age Can My Child Start Dance?
At Encore Dance Company, we offer classes for children as young as 2 years old. Our programs are tailored to match their developmental stage:
Little Sparks (2–4 yrs): A fun, imaginative intro to dance through creative movement.
Star Seekers (4–6 yrs): Builds on those foundations with basic steps in ballet, jazz, tap, and acro.
Even our tiniest dancers benefit from learning rhythm, movement, and coordination — all while building confidence in a playful, pressure-free space.
What Happens in the First Class?
Your child’s first dance class is all about exploration, fun, and connection. There’s no pressure to get every move right. Instead, our experienced teachers focus on:

In our younger classes, we often use storytelling, props, and imagination to keep things light and engaging. For older children, the structure is a little more focused, with clear progressions and skill-building.
Will My Child Be OK on Their Own?
This is one of the most common questions we get from parents — and totally understandable. Some children jump in straight away, while others take a few weeks to warm up.

What Should My Child Wear to Class?
We keep things simple. For your child’s trial class, comfortable clothes they can move in (like leggings and a t-shirt) are perfectly fine. Once you’ve enrolled, we’ll provide you with everything you need to know about the dress code for your chosen class style.
Bonus: Our enrolment pack includes all the details on attire, shoes, and studio expectations. Plus, your child gets a special welcome gift just for joining!
Do I Need to Stay During the Class?
For our youngest dancers (especially 2–4 year olds), some parents like to stay close by in those first few sessions. For most classes, we gently encourage a drop-and-go approach once your child is settled, to help foster independence.
Our friendly staff will always be available before and after class to answer questions and share how your child is going.
